Baked Brie Recipe

Baked Brie with Brown Sugar and Walnuts

Ingredients

1/2 pkg. Pepperidge Farm Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 cup walnuts
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 8-oz wheel of brie (e.g., Kroger’s Premium Select)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten

Directions

1. Thaw pastry sheet at room temperature until soft and pliable (approx. 60 minutes).
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
3. Unfold and lay thawed pastry sheet on flat surface.
4. Cut brie wheel in half so that you have 2 thinner disks of brie. Leave white crust on.
5. Place bottom half of brie on the pastry sheet.
6. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
7. Saute the walnuts in the butter until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.
8. Add the cinnamon and stir until walnuts are coated well.
9. Place the walnut mixture on top of the Brie and sprinkle the brown sugar over the mixture.
10. Place top half of brie on top, like making a sandwich with brie and apricot.
11. Fold the corners of the pastry sheet up, one by one, to wrap the brie; fold resulting corners of pastry sheet UP as best you can without tearing.
12. Flip the whole thing over, with folds down, onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
13. Brush the entire exposed surface with beaten egg.
14. Bake in oven for about 20 minutes or so, until golden brown.
15. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes after removing from oven.
